Irene M. Wynn Clinton Irene M. Wynn, 93, of Clark Mills, formerly of London, England, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, New Hartford. Irene was born in London, England on May 25, 1913, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Mellersh. She was raised and educated in London. Irene was a farmer's daughter and worked hard all her life. During World War II, she worked for the war effort, even delivering milk by horse and cart through the streets of London. Following the war, she worked as a seamstress, making stage dresses for many of the local music hall stars of the time, becoming well known for her beautiful workmanship. She later was employed for many years by the British Civil Service and in 1980 retired from the British Airport Authority. In 1982, while on vacation visiting her daughter, Irene met Jim Wynn. They married in 1982 in London, and moved to the United States. Mr. Wynn has since passed away. Irene had a very full life. She was very interested in other cultures, travelling Europe and then when she came to the United States, was determined to see as many of the US States as she could. She loved her garden as well as everything about nature. She adored the flowers and couldn't get enough of them. Irene was an avid animal activist, as well as a supporter of all charitable organizations. She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, and was a member of the Patrol and active in their ceremonial marching for many years, also in the sewing activities for the Shriners hospital. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star - New Hartford Chapter for many years. Irene is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Harold D. (Sam) Brodie, Rome, NY; her son and daughter-in-law, Leslie and Daphne Gillett, London, England; grandchildren, Lee Andrew Brodie, Munnsville, Scott Dean Brodie, New Haven, CT, Amanda Michelle Brodie, Lee Center, Janet and her husband, David Spencer, London; great grandsons, Brent, Ethan, and Harley Spencer, London; two stepsons, Fred and Jim Wynn, as well as by her step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Winn Mellersh and Maisie Mellersh, both of England, as well as by many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her two feline loves of her life, K.D. and Kittie, they were her constant companions. Irene is predeceased by four brothers, Bill, Anthony, Fred, and Len and two sisters, Iris Sale and Midge Cooke, all of England. At Irene's request, she will be cremated. There are no calling hours. A private memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Kirkland. Those wishing may donate to the Rome Humane Society in Irene's memory. Irene's family would like to make special thanks to a very special lady, Joyce, her neighbor and friend, who did so much to make life easier for her; to Russ, who was a constant, helping her with things around her yard, as well a being a very good friend; to the owners of Millgate Meadows, who were always very kind to her; and to the staff and doctors of the 2nd and 4th floors of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, especially Dr. Spath for the care and compassion shown to Irene and her family. "To my mother, I want to say, we loved each other in a way only the two of us will ever understand, so rest easy, mum. I will miss you."
