Although I never met Capt. Skane, as a child I heard many stories of him. My Father was Joe Price. He was a fireman for Utica and worked with Capt. Skane. My Father had only been on the fire dept. for a short time when they were called to a fire. My Father and Capt. Skane entered the building. My Father was behind him. There was a great explosion and Capt. Skane turned and pushed my Father out the door. He saved my Fathers life. This was also the fire that Capt. Skane recieved his burns. My Father looked up to this man even before that day. What Capt. Skane taught him stay with him and carried him through his career at the fire dept. My Father passed away 5 months ago of lung cancer. I'm sure it was quite a reunion between the two of them. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
