Joyce C. Curley, 81, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on November 02, 2021. Joyce is survived in death by her husband James P. Curley. Joyce was born May 27, 1940 in Osceola, Nebraska the daughter of Reddick (Mann) Cartwright and Alameda C. (Johnson) Cartwright. Joyce attended school in both Shelby and York, Nebraska as well as Pomona, California. Joyce was married September 9, 1978 in Kauai, Hawaii to James P. Curley. Together they shared 5 daughters, 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Joyce is survived by her daughters; Tracy Bortvit, San Tan Valley, Arizona, Michelle Chrisman, Phoenix, Arizona and Shannon Doell (Don), Buckeye, Arizona. Joyce is also survived by her step daughters Julie Ball (David), Ilion, New York and Bridget Brownrigg (Scott), Delran, New Jersey and her brother Bill Cartwright (Brenda), Simi Valley, California. Joyce also leaves behind four sisters in law; Joyce Kenefick (John), Horseheads, New York, Sharon Curley, Rochester, New York, Barbara Carparelli (Ray), New Hartford, New York and Sue Lehmann (John), Deerfield, New York, as well as many cherished and loved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and relatives. Joyce was preceded in death by her sisters; Donna Golemon (Dick), Diamond Springs, California, Beverly Stover (Monty), Kenai, Alaska, and Barbara Hulme (Ron), Grand Island, Nebraska Joyce was employed by Lanterman Developmental Center in Pomona, California for 23 years. Upon her retirement from Lanterman, Joyce and her beloved husband Jim moved to Mesa, Arizona where they enjoyed the company of many close friends. Joyce enjoyed visiting the Adirondacks in upstate New York and visiting friends and family. She especially loved viewing the beautiful Arizona sunsets. Mrs. Curley’s funeral will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Church, 440 Keyes Rd., Utica, NY, where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Her Rite of Committal and burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro, NY. Visitation for family and friends is Thursday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., Utica, NY. A celebration of life will be held at Vito’s Italian Ristorante (480.832.3311) at 1947 N. Lindsay Road, Mesa, Arizona 85213 at 5:00 pm on Thursday, December 02, 2021.
