Many an evening I spent in the waiting lounge, happily eavesdropping on my son Jake's bass lesson. This was an honor - to covertly witness Jake's growth as a musician and a young man. Carmen infused every music lesson with an overall vibe or spirit that got to the heart of what it is to be a musician. What a kind, gentle and generous person. I am so sorry for your loss, and ours.

It is with a heavy heart to learn the passing of Carmen. Carmen, may you forever strum your chords to the angels and embrace all of your loved ones that had gone before you. I will forever cherish our friendship, your mentorship, the music you and I created and for your laughter.
Sweet dreams,
Until we meet again,

I had guitar lessons with Carmen and it was during his lunch time in his New Hartford studio. I will always remember his patient ways and our discussions. My teacher, a tender goodbye.

Carmen was a local legend! Back in the day he would preform @ my father's restaurant Grandaddy's in the old Grandunion shopping plaza in South Utica. He also helped local musicians such as the Gossin brothers from New Hartford better know as GLORIANA in the country music world... I hope they look back on how much he helped them become something of themselves!
RIP Carmen!
May your family and friends remember how much joy and laughter you brought to everyone!

Carmen was the best in his field and looked up to by guitar players and musicians everywhere. He was also a true nice guy who never forgot his roots in Utica. Until I read his book, I never realized he took up the guitar in Faxton's Children's Hospital. I also started my guitar lessons after being hospitalized there. My sister also delivered Meals On Wheels with Wendy and enjoyed talking to her about the family. My condolences to Elizabeth, Stephen and the family. In the name of Jesus- Bill and Nannette Britt

Carmen Caramanica, just the name evokes many smiles. I was honored to have been a friend and colleague of a true virtuoso. I was very lucky to have him be a part of my first record, and then after being able to use him on some gigs. He was a "star" from a small town, who made it big, and he never forgot his upbringing. His many students can say they were taught by the best, and be proud of that. He now is a part of that "Big Band" along with the many others that have gone also. No, not a part, knowing Carmen he is arranging that "Big Band". God bless my friend.

Although I am unable to attend the services for Carmen this week, I want Elizabeth and his entire family to know how greatful I am that he was a part of my life. He was a musical father, mentor, and, friend and I would not be the person let alone the musician I am today without his warm comments and guidance. Later on to be asked to play, record, and, teach for him was truly an honor I never took for granted. I want to pray that all of you enjoy his memory and the hearts he touched literally all over this country. My best wishes, Shawn Hawley.

I am so saddened to learn of Carmen’s passing. I was privileged to have been a student of his for several years. During that time, Carmen was more than a teacher – he became a valued friend. He will be missed by many. My sincerest condolences to Elizabeth, Stephen and family.

Prayers and Condolences to family and Friends.
Thank you Carmen for the many years of lessons and instruction that led to my nearly 30 year semi-pro career which was a dream come true for me. I couldn't have done it without you. I am sure your hundreds if not thousands of students feel the same way.
With all of your accomplishments, I used to tell you that you were "America's Best Kept Secret," as a Music Legend, because you truly are one of the best!
Godspeed my friend. We were all very lucky to have you in our lives.
