Obituary of Kimberly Ann Schrader

Please share a memory of Kimberly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Kimberly Ann Schrader, 52, of N. Utica, entered the loving hands of the Lord on Monday, June 12, 2023, after a long courageous battle with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis.

Kimberly was born in New Hartford, on January 28, 1971, the daughter of John and Diane (Ewing) Zbytniewski.  She was raised and educated in Utica, was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and earned her cosmetology license from BOCES.  On October 3, 1998, Kimberly was united in marriage with Mark Schrader at St. Mark’s Church in N. Utica.  For over 30 years, Kim was employed as a barber with New Hartford Barber Shop, where she learned the trade from her mentor and dearest friend, Leo Gillman.  During her long career, Kim acquired many many loyal customers who became her dear friends and second family. Kim was a bright light in a sometimes-dark world whose kindness and generosity was evident to all who knew her.  Her strong faith in God was instilled in her as a young girl by her loving and devoted parents, John and Diane, and she strived to live her Christian life each day as the bible teaches, to love and treat others as you would want others to treat you.  Kim was a selfless woman, who made a private discission to enter a blind study with the hopes of defeating the terrible disease, PPMS, where in turn would help countless others effected with this disease. She was extremely gifted artistically and was of the Catholic faith. Kim’s greatest joy in life was her family and especially her cherished nieces and nephews who she absolutely adored.

Kimberly is survived by her beloved husband, Mark; loving parents, John and Diane Zbytniewski of Whitesboro; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Mark Zbytniewski of Whitesboro, Greg and Heather Zbytniewski of FL and Brian and Amee Zbytniewski of Whitesboro; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michael and Barbara Scharder of N. Utica; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mike and Maria Schrader of Selkirk, NY and David and Kimberly Schrader of Utica; her cherished nieces and nephews, Michael Zbytniewski, Matthew Zbytniewski, Zachary Zbytniewski, Brian Zbytniewski, Jr., Abigail Zbytniewski, Lilia Zbytniewski and her mother, Christina Zbytniewski, Alaina Ferriera, Hannah Schrader and Morgan Schrader; her dear friends, Leo Gillman, Heather, Laurel, Kelly and Grant, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, co-worker, loyal customers and friends too numerous to mention.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Kim’s memorial Mass of Christian burial on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Historic Old St. John’s Church in Utica.  The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Memorial Mass.  Those wishing to make a donation in Kim’s memory, please consider the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at www.nationalmssociety.org.
