Obituary of Joseph D. Bragg

      Joseph D. Bragg, 82, of Whitesboro passed away on 6/27/2023. 

     Joe was born in Utica, NY on December 25, 1940, a son of Edward and Marie (Kiley) Bragg.  Joe was a proud graduate of the Whitesboro Central School System. On July 20, 1963, at Sacred Heart Church in Utica, Joe married Doris Alpaugh. 

     Joe was employed as a draftsman by Dick Marche Architects.  For many years he was employed as Director of Facilities for St. Luke's Hospital.  Joe then worked as an independent Clerk of the Works often utilized by municipalities and most recently employed by Turner Construction.  Joe was a long-time member of the Whitestown Zoning Board of Appeals. He was a past board member of the Whitesboro and BOCES Boards of Education and a parishioner of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Whitesboro.

     Joe was predeceased by his parents, wife Doris on 5/14/2006, brothers Edward F. Bragg, Frederick E. Bragg, Sr., and Goddaughter Shelly Evans.

     Joe is survived by Sister-in-law Jacqueline LeBlanc Bragg, nephews Edward J. Bragg (Jessica Senn), Frederick E. (Carol) Bragg, Jr., niece Kimberly Ann (William) Stoddard, great nephews Thomas E. Bragg, William F. Stoddard, Nathaniel E. Stoddard, Cole E. Bragg, and great nieces Kylie Marie Bragg and Ava Marie Bragg. He is also survived by friends including; George and Donna Herthum, Mary Ellen Evans, Russ and Elaine Blais, and the many volunteers of the Fred Bragg Memorial Scholarship Committee.  The family is very grateful for their support of Joe through the years.

     Joe’s funeral will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 16 Park Avenue, Whitesboro, where his Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Burial will immediately follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bragg Memorial Scholarship in care of George Herthum 37 New Hartford Street, New York Mills, NY, 13417.
