Doug and I were in the Oriskany School system, from grade school, until graduation in 1965. We were in the Prospect Crusaders, and Utica Executives, Drum and Bugle Corps, along with many others who have passed since those great days. Doug carried and played a huge Contra-base during those Pagents. I remember well his sister Doreen and his Mom Doris during those many rides to practices and events. Doug was always an exceptional person and I am sorry he is gone to better pastures, and parades. Rex P Roman

To my best friend and sister, Ev: I have great respect and admiration for you. You are a beautiful and generous woman. The way you tirelessly cared for Doug had shown true loyalty and dedication to your husband. Know that all your siblings appreciate all the sacrifices you have made throughout the years-always putting everyone first before yourself. We love you Ev. Your empathy to everyone you meet is a true reflection of God's eternal love for us. Doug knew he chose the very best when he saw you-a rare and truly beautiful rose! Ev., My thoughts and prayers are with you especially at this time. You can rest and have peace in your heart that you were a very good and supportive wife. Always there for Doug at any hour of the night or day. Putting your own health and needs aside to be there for him. When he was troubled and afraid you were there to comfort and encourage him. Doug was very fortunate to have had you to be an advocate for him especially when he needed it most. You stepped in and insisted that they x-ray his lungs as his cough sounded terrible. and he was going to be released. Sure enough he had pneumonia. Another instance when he was not receiving good care and you insisted he be transferred that very day to a better rehab. though they refused, you insisted and they did move him that very day! Doug was a very fortunate man. And you can rest in the knowledge that you did all you could for him. To Doug's children: Marc, Tracie and Cait.. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope that you realize how proud he was of you and how much your Dad loved you. You can cherish his memory always in your heart.

I am so sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. I first met Doug when he moved around the corner from my family in Rome. Our mothers became good friends and our families spent many happy times together. I was four years older then Doug and he always called me Sis. I moved away when I was 19 and we lost touch. A few years ago we reconnected on Facebook. So happy we did.❤️
