John was a great man. He was family and community minded putting family first. I served on the whitesboro school board with John for many years. He spoke his mind, he listened to reason and made decisions that improved the quality of life and education in Whitesboro. RIP John

Mr. Salerno was a staunch supporter of the adult learners in our region. I enjoyed many years working with Mr. Salerno as he served on our board. What I'll always remember is the genuine way Mr. Salerno expressed interest in the strengths of the adults we served and how the BOCES could better support their efforts. He so deeply loved and cherished his family and always spoke highly of them. He was a gentle, caring man who will be missed.

In my administrative positions at the Oneida BOCES , it was my pleasure to work with John in his role as school board member. John was a highly respected member of the board, bringing to issues his intelligence, thoughtfulness and positive attitude. He was a respected member of the board who understood the challenges and contributed important insights Into whatever confronted the board. His efforts advanced the educational opportunities for all children in our community.
