Mr. James P. Ward, 73, of Utica, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford with his loving family by his side. James was born in Utica on December 21, 1942 the son of James and Helen (Concannon) Ward. He was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. James honorably served in the US Air Force from 1961-1965. On May 4, 1968, James married Elaine Aulbach at St. Francis de Sales Church in Utica. At one time, he was employed with Bossert Manufacturing Company in Utica and for many years, with Alfred Publishing Company in Oriskany until his retirement in 2006. James enjoyed golf and was an avid NY Yankees Fan. He was of the Catholic Faith. Mr. Ward is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine; one daughter, Michelle Ward and Darian Frazier of Utica; a cherished granddaughter, Brittany Ward and her fiancé Benjamin Zachary of Utica and an adored great grandson, Devin Zachary; He also leaves a brother, Lawrence Ward; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joan and William Goodrich of Pallatine Bridge, NY and two special friends, Craig Manderson and Dave Raux. He was predeceased by an infant son, James Michael Ward. Mr. Ward's funeral will be held on Monday, January 18, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Interment with military honors will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro. Calling hours for family and friends are Monday from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Mr. Ward's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Phenomenal staff on 3 west at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, especially, Deb for the wonderful care and compassion you provided to James.
