Obituary of Thomas J. Berg, Sr.

     Mr. Thomas J. Berg, Sr., 75, of Schuyler, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Wynn Hospital in Utica.

     Thomas was born in Utica, on October 17, 1948, the son of Robert and Jane Berg. For over 30 years until his retirement, Thomas was employed with the Charles T. Sitrin Health Care Center in New Hartford. He enjoyed bowling, loved to travel and received his greatest joy on the golf course. Thomas will be remembered as a true gentleman, who enjoyed and lived life on his terms.

     Mr. Berg is survived by his children, Vera and Sam Valenti of Rome and Thomas J. Berg, Jr., of Schuyler, who affectionately referred to him as “daddio” two grandsons, Michael and Nicholas; his longtime companion, Connie Simmons and her family of Cassville; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Michael Berg of Alabama, Brian and Linda Berg of Whitesboro and Joanne Berg of Ogdensburg, NY; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Laurel and John Castano of Whitesboro, Lucia and Mark Gibson of Virginia and Tom and Jennifer Williams of Syracuse and his best friend, Kevin “Skippy” Leach as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Cindy Berg, brother, Bobby Berg and brother-in-law, John Williams.

     Visitation for family and friends is Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. He will be laid to rest in West Schuyler Cemetery at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice in Thomas’ memory.
