Obituary of Veronica M Dukes

Mrs. Veronica M. (Przybyla) Dukes, 82 of Utica, passed away on Monday, October 21,2024, at Wynn Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Veronica was born in Utica, on September 1, 1942, the daughter of the late John and Loretta (Mack) Sinnott.  She was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On June 10,1961 Veronica was united in marriage to James Przybyla, they shared a special union until his passing in 1981. On February 20,2020 Veronica found a special love again and married William J. Dukes Sr. Veronica was employed at Faxton/St. Lukes Healthcare as an Administrative Assistant for 30 years until her retirement in 2007. Veronica enjoyed doing crafts, sewing and attending craft shows and was an avid bowler. She was a member of St. Joseph’s/St. Patrick’s Church and was of the catholic faith.

Mrs. Dukes is survived by her husband, William J. Dukes Sr., her children Douglas (Laura) Przybyla (Utica), Theresa (David) Sheehan (Winston, GA), James Przybyla (Utica) and Steven Przybyla, Utica. Her siblings, Helen Roberts (Remsen), Delores Oliver (Branson, MI) and Sister-in-Laws, Carol Sinnott (Whitesboro) & Marion Sinnott (Rochester). Several Grandchildren, Great grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents John and Lorette (Mack) Sinnott, her first husband James Przybyla, Daughter, Sandra Smith, Siblings, Sr. John Loretta, Rosemary Gerace, Suzanne (Richard) Langolf, Thomas Sinnott, Raymond Sinnott, Patricia Sibley, Jane McDonald, Barbara Como, John Sinnott, James Sinnott, Michael Sinnott, Robert Sinnott and a special friend Joan Calhoun.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Veronica’s memorial mass on October 28,2024, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s/St. Patrick’s Church, 702 Columbia St., Utica. She will be laid to rest in St. Stanislaus & Casimer Cemetery following the memorial mass. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a local Food Bank or Rescue Mission in Veronica’s memory.
