Robert S. Dulan, 80, of Deerfield, a faith-filled man has gone to be with the Lord, on Friday, July 10, 2015 with his loving family by his side. Bob was born on April 27, 1935, in Utica, the son of Jerry and Helen (Lasley) Dulan. He was raised and educated locally and a graduate of Utica Catholic Academy. On August 17, 1963, Bob married Sandra (Sandy) J. Kneller at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Chadwicks. He had been employed with Niagara Mohawk, retiring in 1994. He then went on to drive for Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, taking patients to and from their appointments. Bob was a member of St. Peter's Church in North Utica. He belonged to the Niagara Mohawk 25 year club. Bob was a basketball enthusiast, having played MUNY League basketball, and then went on to win the gold medal playing basketball in the Senior Olympics at the age of 55. He also coached his son in youth basketball and soccer. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Sandy Dulan, Deerfield; three daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara Kowalski, Franklin Springs, Tracy Dulan (and her husband, Russell Gates), Holland Patent, Nancy Welch, Utica; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert L. and Pamela Dulan, Rochester, Mark and Kimberly Dulan, Albany; nine grandchildren, Alec and Amanda Dulan, Sabrina, Samantha, and Seve Kowalski, Timothy Welch, Isaac and Lucas Dulan, and Erran Gates. He is predeceased by a sister, Shirley Shepardson, and a brother, Edwin Dulan. Mr. Dulan's funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Peter's Church, North Utica, where his Mass of Christian Burial will take place. Interment, in New Forest Cemetery, Utica, will take place at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica, Tuesday evening, from 5 - 7 pm. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations made to the following organizations: Food for the Poor, 6401 Lyons Road, Coconut Creek, Florida 33073 or World Vision, P.O. Box 9716, Federal Way, WA 98063. The family would like to offer their sincere and heartfelt thanks to their "extended family" on the Williams Unit of the Eastern Star Home for the love, care, and compassion shown to Bob and his family during his stay.
