Obituary of Winifred A. Raciti

Mrs. Winifred (Winnie) A. Raciti, 84, of N. Utica and recently of Clinton, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at her home.
Winifred was born in Utica, on June 26, 1934 the daughter of Walter and Stephanie (Pasternak) Zombik. She was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On August 7, 1954, Winifred was united in Marriage with James W. Raciti, Jr. at St. Patrick’s Church in Utica, a loving and devoted union of 51 years until James’ death in 2005. At one time, Winnie was employed with Gorea’s Motor Express (where she met Jim), later with Upstate Computers, the Observer Dispatch and most recently with Empire Vision in New Hartford. Winnie’s greatest joy was helping others, taking care of her family, going to the Turning Stone Casino and getting her hair done. She was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in N. Utica.
Mrs. Raciti is survived by her son, Michael Raciti and his fiancée Bambi Holtslander of Clinton; one sister, Jeanette Guzski of Warwick, RI; nieces, Dana (Alan) Pigeon of RI, Jill (Michael) Manni of RI and Susan (Stuart) Miller of FL; many cousins, especially, Charlotte Shrader, Rosemary Zombik, and Virginia Cecilia and family; best friends, Joanie Geruntino and Phyllis Vashio and many close friends, including, Dianne Viti, Kay Caruso, Loretta Daley and Ann Girmonde. Besides her husband James and Parents, Walter and Stephanie, Winifred was predeceased by her son, David J, Raciti in 2011, a brother-in-law, Daniel Guzski, in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. James Raciti, Sr and many aunts and uncles.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 12:00 noon at St. Peter’s Church, 422 Coventry Ave., N. Utica. A private burial will be held at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Heart Association in Winifred’s memory.
Winnie’s family would like to thank her doctors: Dr. Ghassan Koussa, Dr. Shazia Chaudhry and Dr. Brian Gaffney for the care and compassion shown to Winnie. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., N. Utica.
